ECJA President Communication to all ECJA members

Dear Alumnus/Alumna,

In this fast-paced and mundane life, I would like to invite you to take a few minutes off to walk
down memory lane!

A great auspicious occasion has dawned upon our European Confederation of Jesuit Alumni
(ECJA). By previously being associated with a Jesuit, school/college, you may know that alumni
associations and federations do their best to conduct events on a grander scale. To help them
accomplish that, we need your help. Students like you, who studied in a Jesuit school/college and
who are the pride of the Jesuit education centres can contribute a lot to its successful completion.

The bygone years have made schools/colleges rich in their contributions to the
society/community around them. This has been done by introducing new ways of learning,
bringing innovation to students but with a sense of memory, making students prepared for a
bright future, and last but not least, giving us (alumni) the chance to embrace our Lord’s mission
on a daily basis.

In the European Confederation of Jesuit Alumni, we aim to achieve the following goals:

  • Increase the number of associations/federations registered and active in the European
    Alumni life;
  • Increase national and transnational network of Jesuit alumni/ae;
  • Increase the collaboration with Jesuits in Europe in their ministries;
  • Bringing youth alumni to the centre of the action in ECJA.

In order to achieve these, we kindly request you to help us make this possible and most of all
successful.

How can you do it?

  • You can find out about your school/college association and spread the word. If you don’t
    have a school/college association, we can help you to establish one!
  • Motivate others (alumni) to be part of your school/college association;
  • Motivate your association to be part of the national Federation. If you don’t have a
    national federation your association can participate directly in ECJA.
  • Participate in your Association/Federation or ECJA events.

Usually, an appeal letter to alumni can be written for a variety of reasons, but most commonly it
is written to invite former students to attend events that are set to occur at the school/college or
to ask them for monetary help. In this particular case, we are not looking for any kind of donation
(of course any donations will always be appreciated and well used, for benefit of the most
needed). What we hope to achieve with this communication is your help in motivating and
engaging others in this AMAZING mission “to be men and women to/for others” and wake up the
“sleeping giant”, THE EUROPEAN JESUIT ALUMNI NETWORK.

Many alumni have already signed up for the network, and here’s your opportunity to join them.
I invite you to fill out this survey (https://forms.office.com/r/AbdLxHcwSZ) and join the European alumni network now! Hope to see you in the network!

Kind regards,
Filipe Farelo
